Press Release
28 October 2002
Toronto, ON - 28 October 2002 -
Qvadis today unveiled Lexica Pro for Palm-powered devices, providing
handheld users with more expansive multilingual translation capability
at the tap of a stylus.
Recently recognized for Innovative Technology Achievement by the
Digital Literature Institute, Qvadis is best known for its award-winning Express Reader ebook viewer.
Qvadis recently launched Lexica, a reference viewer, multilingual dictionary
and translator system, which has quickly become one of the most popular dictionary systems
for Palm-based devices.
Lexica Pro expands the power of the system, bundling the dictionary viewer with Qvadis' most popular language modules,
enabling bi-directional translation between English and French, Spanish, German, Italian and Portuguese.
"Lexica Pro is customer-designed software,"
said Sam Peralta, CEO of Qvadis. "What they told us was they wanted our most popular languages
in a single affordable bundle. That's Lexica Pro."
The Lexica viewer is designed to the same high standard of usability
set by Qvadis' award-winning ebook reader. Lexica also boasts fast look-up,
a configurable split-screen, support for color and grayscale devices, user-editable keywords and definitions,
on-the-go handheld creation of new dictionaries, keyword-and-translation beaming,
and innovative data compression technology that makes the most of limited handheld memory.
An upcoming update - nearly out of beta - promises expansion-card-compatibility as a free upgrade
for current users.
