Qvadis Releases Free Version of Popular Palm eBook Reader
Toronto, ON - 16 March 2001 -
Qvadis today unveiled Express Reader Lite
for Palm-powered devices, making the handheld ebook reader
available for free to millions of Palm device users around the world.
The first integrated PC/Palm ebook publisher and viewer, Express Reader
has quickly gained in popularity and critical acclaim since its release for its
simple and intuitive, yet powerful, design. Among other accolades, Express Reader
was picked a Hot Product at Yahoo! Mobile, and garnered the highest
ratings from CNET, ZDNet, Tucows and other print and Web publications.
Qvadis is the first and only company to have had three products simultaneously
on Lycos' Top 10 Weekly Palm Downloads chart, for Express Reader GT,
DX and Pro - its handheld, desktop, and professional editions.
"Because of its functionality and adherence to the Zen of Palm,
Qvadis Express Reader has been embraced by Palm ebook enthusiasts as the
ebook reader of choice for the Palm Doc format," said Sam Peralta, CEO of Qvadis.
"With the release of our free reader, Qvadis hopes to bring that
enthusiasm to a larger community of handheld users."
Users of Qvadis Express Reader Lite can view up to seven separate ebook titles,
with no time limitations. Users always have the freedom to
upgrade to Express Reader GT or Pro, which allows an unlimited number
of titles to be viewed, and includes more functions.
Built-in functions for Express Reader Lite include font and linespace select,
bookmarks, categories, private records, document beaming, page-turn control,
autoscroll, fullscreen (menu hide) mode, an onboard clock, quick help,
copy-text-to-clipboard, compatibility with color devices, ability to read
documents in flash memory, and powerful move-to and search functions.
Furthermore, selected capabilities added to GT in future versions
will also be integrated into the free version, ensuring that
Express Reader Lite will continue to be the most full-featured
free Palm reader in the industry.
Qvadis Express Reader Lite will also feature ebook samplers from leading
Palm e-publishers. The launch edition includes samplers from Editio-Books.com
and Fictionwise.com; selections from other publishers
are expected to be added in upcoming editions.
The Editio-Books.com ebook includes selections from Michael Mirolla,
Mark Frutkin, Susan Zettell, Todd Downing and Jeffrey Street.
The Fictionwise.com ebook includes selections from Robert Silverberg
and Mike Resnick, as well as coupons for 20% discounts
off the price of the full works.
In addition to Express Reader,
the Qvadis website offers an extensive free etext library, the
Web's most complete links to Palm ebook archives, Palm and Net device news,
as well as the popular eBook-of-the-Month feature.
