Qvadis Acquires Leading Palm e-Book Publisher Editio
Deal Extends Qvadis Leadership as e-Publishing Solutions Provider for Palm Handhelds

Toronto, ON - 12 December 2000 - Qvadis Corporation, the leading developer of integrated handheld/desktop document applications, including the multiaward-winning Qvadis Express Reader, and provider of the premier online Palm e-text portal, today announced that it has a definitive agreement to acquire Editio Online Publishing, a premier digital publishing house for quality fiction and nonfiction.

Founded in 1998, Editio offers original books and stories in Qvadis format for the Palm platform - covering fiction, short stories, travel, non-fiction, history and biography - as well as print bestsellers converted to Qvadis format using the Express Reader publishing suite. Its author list includes writers who have received or been nominated for prestigious literary awards.

"Qvadis' strength is in delivering robust, industry-leading publishing tools for mobile platforms," said Sam Peralta, President and CEO of Qvadis. "We're very pleased to welcome to Qvadis some of the industry's top talent, to help us build on that strength."

"This is a natural evolution of our successful strategic alliance with Qvadis, which saw our annual e-book sales almost triple," said Jeffrey Street, co-founder with fellow bestselling author Mark Frutkin, of Editio. "By becoming an integral part of Qvadis, we're realizing our vision of successfully bringing great writing to this medium of the future."

Qvadis will be re-launching Editio-Books and integrating its content into its existing website, with an expanded list of titles and authors. The acquisition expands Qvadis' Ex Libris online service, which provides original and partner-based e-document content for Express Reader users. The website hosts the Qvadis Library - which offers nearly 4000 free e-texts in Palm format - as well as handheld device news, an archive of Internet e-book collections, and the popular e-Book-of-the-Month feature. Editio co-founders Street and Frutkin will continue as authors and guest editors with Qvadis.

"E-books are playing a larger role in the publishing industry," Peralta added. "We're proud of how Express Reader's success has helped accelerate that same momentum in the Palm community."

Qvadis' Express Reader software was the first integrated PC/palmtop e-book application for the Palm platform, and has quickly gained in popularity and critical acclaim since its release for its simple and intuitive, yet powerful, design. Evaluation copies of Express Reader, and other Palm e-book offerings, can be found at http://www.qvadis.com.
